Hub

28th October 2016

A hub is the still point at the centre – a place of welcome and warmth at the heart of an activity or network. With everything else in motion, a hub can offer stability, strength and relative stillness. At any time, life in ministry can be anywhere on the spectrum of joyous, fulfilling, stretching, challenging, demanding, relentless, turbulent, terrifying, destructive. There are times when we have capacity to give into the centre and times when we need to draw sustenance from it.

We are creating a Hub that has the potential to serve many functions, to meet many needs. The stability of the wheel, and its ability to move, to transport us from one place to another, comes from the tension and connections between the rim, the spokes and the hub. It needs to be well engineered and built to start with, and maintained well during its working life.

I really welcome this resource being offered by Sheldon. There is so much - often unintentional - truth avoidance and masking of reality in the ways working ministers and our churches interact, that having this way of speaking and living with truthfulness and love about stuff that really matters is deeply encouraging and healing
